I have been working on my 12 days of Christmas still and then I have been scrapping just random layouts here in the last few days.

My scrappy goals for this year is:
**No new items except for adhesives for a minimum of 4 months. Maybe some of my stash will deplete.
**Create 183-12x12 layouts (at least every other day)
**Create 4 mini albums
**Journal everyday on my journal blog

Hidden Journalling reads: Its been many years since I had a small tree for Christmas. I love how they look-they are strong, yet dainty. They are more intimate than a big tree and they are just as pretty when decorated. With there only being four of us now and the presents getting smaller but more expensive - he's perfect.

Over at ACOT they are doing a 12 days of Christmas Challenge.

Here is my contributions. I am actually glad to be playing along because it keeps my mind off of what is going on with me these days.

1st day: On the first day of Christmas, my true love made for me...A layout featuring a Christmas tree!

Samantha in front of the tree that she named "Larry" He is my tree that everyone can see from the street when they drive by. This sketch is based on Julie Bonner's week 49.

2nd day: On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...A project featuring 2 snowmen!

A card/tag that I made to put on my Secret Santa present for work.

3rd day: On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...A Layout featuring three Christmas flowers (like poinsettias!)

These are my girls playing in the snow on Dec 10, 2008. You can't see it but it is there and I have to admit...I was like a kid too, calling everyone I knew to tell them it was snowing and playing outside in it until I turned to a popscicle.

I made this layout with a sketch as inspiration from Inspired Blueprints. They are having a DT call and I thought I would throw my hat in the ring and see what happens.

This picture was taken on my way back from my doctors appointment. Journalling reads: Nov 21 2008-We made our trip to Austin for my yearly exam. I was expecting to hear "you need the hysterectomy after all" I was not prepared to hear "there has been significant changes in your left breast-I want you to go for a mammogram and an ultrasound." I was in shock-stunned. I called and made my appointment for 12/5-until then-I have to sit and wait, hoping for the best.

the wedding card! Now, I hate making cards - don't know why but they are my least favorite to do and I always scraplift them. So this lovely little ditty comes from Stacy Marks over at Two Peas. So a big thanks to Stacy for saving my hiney.

Now because I started on this so late and it took me over an hour to finish - the sun was gone so I had to improvise so you could see my lovely scraplift. I didn't use a flash because it played havoc on the glimmer paper. So I used my lamp as the light right over the card itself. Turned out very sepia looking.

The card is all in white. I used scraps left over from my unfinished wedding album and then bling bazzill for the heart. I added stickles and bling along with 2 Heidi Swapp flowers. The buckle is plastic but you can't tell until you pick it up and the ribbon is grosgrain.

I decided that I was going to do something a little different for Trisha wedding. The wedding was on 11/1 but they have been on a 2 week honeymoon and I am taking the "gift" to work with me on Monday when she gets back. It was an odd situation at the wedding with who would be taking the gifts back to their house so I held off.

I found this idea on one of my groups on MSN and it looked simple enough. The whole thing cost me $9.86 which includes the fluffy stuff inside. Inside there is a gift card for Bed Bath and Beyond and then then I found a cute little Christmas ornament that says "Our first Christmas together, 2008" I think I may use one of my chipboard tag albums too and make her a little album to keep at her desk with some pics for when people come in.

Productive Weekend

After my complaining this last week and having a talk with Tilda at Chatty Scrappers - I realized that I am very lucky and that there is always someone who has it worse off than you do in one way or another.

DH was away at a race this weekend. I sat down and started going thru my CK magazines and I found some that I loved. I decided that I would not look at any websites because of the "shiny distraction" that it can cause.

This is the 1st rosebud after the storm came through. It looked like a normal bud but this beauty is what I got.

This goes to my vacation album and even though the layout is very simple - it shows off the beauty of the tanks.

There is something going on with me...I can't scrap - I want to but I can't.

I remember the days where I could sit down and do anywhere from 2-4 layouts in a night. Now I have to look at sketches, layouts on 2 Peas and Scrapbook.com as well as look at magazines before I get an idea of what I want to do and by this time - I don't want to scrap anymore.

I know that I have too much stuff from all the time of collecting and no scrapping. I have stuff that I bought that I can't bring myself to use. Case in point....Prima Say It in Crystals. I got them for $6 w/ a discount and I can't open the package. I have tons of buttons, ribbon and embellishments all together by color. But really, I have no clue what I have in all my tubs and containers anymore when it comes to the little stuff.

When did scrapping turn into this big elaborate thing that has to happen on paper? When did it become not okay to do a simple page? When did I become a scrapbook snob?

I really hope that I am not the only one who feels this way....

Halloween...

So this year, I went out of my norm...a witch and went comfy. One size does not fit all and I didn't want to shell out $50-$75 for a costume that I would fuss with all day.

So I give you Tracy Turnblad from Hairspray. For about $25, I got many ooohhs and ahhhs in a good way. And they thought it was my real hair...not since the late 80's and early 90's have my hair been this big.

And here is everyone in my office who dressed up. There was a contest and we will find out who wins the PTO on Monday. Cross your fingers but I don't think its happening.

First I checked out what Julie Bonner had came up with for the sketch of the week and I was inspired to work on it.

My photo was taken the night before Hurricane Ike came ashore.

I also worked on a page of my husband.

Journalling reads: What started off as a nice day @ the zoo - soon turned into an afternoon of phones calls with updates on your dad. Amber took this photo of you on the phone with your sister. This is the phone call that ended the afternoon and sent us to the hospital to be with the rest of the family. We stayed at the hospital until almost 11pm. The next phone call came shortly after 3am. A 20 minute drive at 80-85 mph later and we were too late.

Homecoming

But here we are the night before the I plugged in my hot glue gun, grabbed my stapler and made a last run to Michaels for some extra ribbon and ornaments. (I guess that is what they are called)

And my altered item for the month. I found this idea on Scrapfreak and Shannon was rocking the flower she made...I was a little jealous and made my own but in butterfly fashion. By the way...the butterfly comes with the October Kit. It is from Maya Rd and has 8 pieces to it! The yellow paint on it is in there also and it is Tim Holtz Crackle Paint in Scattered Straw.

So I decided that I needed some serious "me" time. So I took 2 days off of work and then I would have the weekend...well it doesn't always work out.

I was up earlier than I am normally for work. I dropped the girls off at the bus stops, went to the grocery store, the doctors office to pick up a prescription, the pharmacy (twice), the library, I cleaned, did laundry and suggested eating out. This was so not what amazing things I had planned for me. Why did I stray you ask? Hurricane Ike...nothing like a man to ruin your plans. I tell ya!

So I don't normally pay attention to the date...just the days - so yesterday I go about my business and I am hearing nothing about 9/11 because of all the hurricane talk going on until I get in the truck and am listening to Fox News on XM (dirty little secret-don't tell anyone!) and I hear that it is September 11th. So I decide that it is time for me to scrap a page so that my grandchild one day can see what I remembered. Here are 2 photos that I uploaded from Google images and had printed out with a black border that was supposed to be thin...

Journalling Reads: "Just a normal Tuesday for me-kids to school, laundry, cleaning and errands. I had no idea what was happening in the world until I made a phone call & then this day became one I would never forget. I pulled the kids out of school early so I wouldn't be alone and I stayed glued to the t.v. until 2am. Here it is 7 years later and I am off of work. I ran errands, did laundry and cleaned...the only difference - Its Thursday and the towers are no longer standing.

This week has been busy! School starting and the rush to get last minute supplies that are requested but not on the list. I mean come on...seriously...who would request for each kid to have 600 index cards? Oh and getting up early, its not only killing the girls but me too.

My plan for the weekend: Get my butt in gear and finish up some layouts and then do some new ones. I want to do at least 6 layouts this weekend and finish up 2 that are half way done that I lost interest on. I want to get reaquainted with my supplies. I know that I have it but I can't find it. I am also going to IKEA to see about lighting for over my scrap table.

Maybe the rainbow worked because I happened upon the crop this weekend at A Cherry On Top and they were offering a few classes that sounded very appealing. I am still working on my mini album but I pretty much finished my Explosion Box. I just need to add photos and adjust the lid.

The paper that I used is from SEI - the Poppy Line. It really is yummy paper in person. I added ink, bling and 2 MM paper flowers w/ matching brads. Everything else was in the kit. The great thing about this paper is that it is double sided.

After a very long week which included a trip to San Antonio with my boss so I could cover the phones while she did the reviews for the girls up there...I finally sat down to scrap. Today was hard for some reason. I think I need to break out my stuff and get re-acquainted with what all that I have in their little totes.

I have finally finished my Disney swap too so I will post pics of those soon.

Here is a layout that I did a couple of months back but forgot that I did it and I found it today not where it should have been. Can you tell I really needed a vacation? It is an ad that I kept seeing over and over in almost any magazine that I picked up. This layout is made from all scraps.

This is my 2nd page that I have made for my vacation album for the year. This sand castle was facing the road on South Padre Island. You can walk all around it but you can't touch the castle itself. You can pose with the dolphins-which the girls did a lot and then there are numerous shells too...big enough to hide in! On the other side of the castle there is a souvenir shop that has everything imaginable to bring home to a loved one or friend. It was really cool to see.

Isn't it always lovely when your daughter comes to you the night before she is supposed to go to a "suprise party breakfast" and tells you that she forgot to mention that she needed a gift...so I improvised and made an mini circle album. It took a little over 2 hours and I used all scraps :)

I used DCWV Glitter Stack on one side and Parakeet, Hazard and Sunbeam Bazzill. There is also Cats Eye Ink, Heidi Swapp Flowers, Buttons, Brads, Bling, Chipboard, Ribbon, Fiber and Die Cuts.

I have been wanting to scrap but haven't found the time. Its not like I am constantly busy but this week has been very tiring for some reason. I seriously can't wait until Saturday so I can have the whole day to myself and not have to share it with work.

A Bit about Me

Welcome to my blog!

I wanted to let you know a bit about me. My name is Carla and I live in Texas with my husband, Robbie and I have 3 daughters who are all in the midst of their teenage years. I also have a step daughter and a step son who don't live with us. I have 2 dogs and 1 cat as well.

I have been scrapping since October 2005 when I was planning my wedding. I was soon addicted and I currently have a family album and a vacation album in the works. I have finished only 3 albums in the two years that I have been scrapping.

I was a hostess on Its a Scrapbook Swap Thing from May '07 to April '08 where I hosted well over 100 swaps.
